Lisa Loveridge managed this lovely 15lb 14oz barbel from the River Loddon recently and “doesn’t really know what to say about this one, I’m blown away by the season I’m having!”
She told us “I had prebaited the river the night prior, the following evening I arrived at the river around 7pm. As I had put some bait in the previous night I only baited up lightly in each spot. Around 8.30pm I put another handful of bait in each spot then half an hour later my rod screamed off downstream. From the moment I struck, I could tell it was a big fish and it wasn’t long before she weeded me up but after some gentle pressure she was free. The fish then started coming towards me so I loosened the clutch in case she decided to run off which she very much did. After a few minutes I managed to slip this beauty over the net and she was finally mine!
