Railway Manager Liam Willis has been enjoying a great barbel campaign this year, but this 17lb 13oz Trent fish certainly tops his catches.
Having targeted six different stretches, Liam’s caught numerous fish between 14lb and 16lb, but his most recent catch is a new personal best, and fell to two 20mm boilies wrapped in paste fished over a bed of boilie, hemp, and pellet.
Initially, he thought he was into a small barbel as the fish shot across river then stopped in the main flow. Here, it gave a strong fight, and when it finally neared the net, it’d power off again.
Liam decided to get into the river to land the fish, and although he was soaked and cold, he says it was ‘worth it’ for such a fish.
Well done Liam!
