“with this setup, you don’t miss many bites.”
Casting at range on a huge 170-acre stillwater resulted in this fantastic 4lb 8oz perch for Leicester specialist angler, Lee McManus. It was just his second perch session of the year, and on his first he landed a fish of 4lb 7oz, so it’s fair to say he’s had a very good start to the year’s perch campaign.
Fishing over a bit of chopped worm and caster, just enough to get a bite, Lee hooked a worm through the head then cut the rest of it off, leaving a very durable hookbait that can be cast a long way. He fished this on a running rig alongside a 2.5oz lead and short hooklink. Lee says that with this setup, you don’t miss many bites.
