It’s impossible to truly comprehend the scale of a truly big bream until you see one on the bank, as Ian Hannaby found after being left ‘gobsmacked’ by this 17lb 7oz fish.
He was targeting the species on a water where there are only a few known monsters and had the fish alongside two ‘smaller’ thirteen-pounders in the same session. After settling into a known hotspot where there’s a bar around 70 yards out, Ian opted for white and pink wafter hookbaits to avoid nuisance fish. In gale force winds, he soon banked a 12lb carp before he hooked and landed the seventeen-pounder.
Well done Ian!
