Leicester angler Lee McManus has continued his blistering start to the season with this 17lb 6oz bream. He had the fish from a weedy midlands stillwater and noted it’s huge frame, however as it was a female, it was well down in weight after spawning.
A corn and caster hookbait fished alongside a size 8 barbel hook on a seven-inch coated braid hooklink did the trick. Due to the weedy nature of the water, Lee sets his lead clip so it’ll drop the lead easily. He’s found that, once the lead is gone, the fish come up in the water and he can steer them safely to the net.
Well done Lee!
