Keith Woods 7lb 12oz Chub

After enduring a spell of lost fish on the float, Keith Woods knew something had to change and, after making a few tweaks to his set-up, was rewarded with this 7lb 12oz chub.
He’s been fishing the River Lea at Kings Weir but had ‘bumped’ lots of fish this season. He’d been trotting breadflake and reckoned that, when hooked directly, it’d been impacting his hook hold. So, he switched to hair rigging his bread, as well as changing to a Drennan Barbel hook and using a size 8 instead of his usual 10.On a recent weekend-long trip to the river prior to the season finishing, he’d baited a swim with liquidised bread for a few days and, when fishing it on his final morning, hooked a good fish 30 yards down the run on his second trot. With snags on either bank, a nervy fight followed, but his 15ft rod enabled him to hold the fish away from the nags, with his 6lb line holding firm all the way to the net.

Well done Keith!
