Waltham Abbey, Essex Barbel angler Keith Locke with a huge 16lb 4oz River Kennet fish – winning him a weekly Drennan Cup Award in Angling Times recently!
Keith had already taken an 8lb 6oz fish from the club stretch when the big fish took his 22mm Halibut Pellet hookbait. “The fish snagged me up for 15 minutes and I was about to pull for a break when it started moving again” Keith told Angling Times.
Successful tackle incorporated a combi-rig tied with 15lb Fluorocarbon and 3ins of Drennan Sink Braid, to a size 9 Super Specialist Barbel hook, with a PVA bag of mixed-size freebie pellets.
