John Keeley showed why the tidal River Trent continues to be a worthy venue for huge predators when he slipped the net under a 16lb 3oz specimen.
Targeting an area away from the crowds, the Wakefield angler waited for almost seven hours before he got the take he was after when the monster fish took off with his legered small skimmer deadbait.
John told Angling Times: “I had never had a double-figure zander before despite trying for a couple of winters now and I have had a poor season on the river fishing for other species like barbel so this more than makes up for that.”
