A swim move paid off in fine style for Norfolk angler, Joe Coleman, who has just landed this phenomenal 4lb 7oz crucian, a fish that not so long ago would’ve rocked the British Record.
Targeting a southern stillwater that’d been in poor form lately, Joe blanked the first day, but after seeing an angler pack up in a nearby swim, he made a move, and within an hour of recasting had a brace of three-pounders. Confident he was on some fish, Joe got a good night’s rest before spombing out a small bed of bait the following morning.
After returning a fish of 3lb 8oz, Joe had another cracking crucian, this time at 3lb 15oz, resting in the net when his other rod ripped off. Picking it up he could instantly tell that he was into something heavy, and once he landed the fish, it dwarfed the near four-pounder laying in the mesh. At 4lb 7oz, the crucian is a new PB for Joe, and fell to feeder tactics using caster hookbaits.
