Northampton Specimen Group ace Jamie Cartwright with a 6lb 8oz Chub from the Great Ouse to finish his river season.
Jamie was hoping for one of the river’s really huge Chub (having bagged an 8lb+ specimen in 2011) – but was more than pleased with this beauty. The big Chub accepted some boilie paste moulded around a piece of artificial corn (to give some buoyancy to the bait) whipped tight to the shank of a ESP Stiff Rigger size 8 hook, and was landed with a prized Drennan Super Specialist Duo 12ft 1.5lb rod and 8lb mainline.
“The pics weren’t up to the usual high standard not helped I’m sure by the fact I had to hold my breath for about 10 seconds before every photo as it was about -3 and my breath steamed up all the shots!” explained Jamie.
