With all the wintry weather recently, here is a photo from warmer times – Jack Pells with a huge Crucian Carp.
Jack was using a 13ft match rod at one of his local club lakes, but decided to buy a Drennan Red Range 11ft Carp Waggler rod – the shorter length enabling him to squeeze under some low overhanging trees and fish a particular swim.
“I found it to be ideal for crucians, the tip was soft enough not to bump the fish on the strike and also soft enough to absorb any lunges, but with enough back bone to play the large fish to the net” Jack told us.
Using a Peacock Waggler and size 16 Wide Gape Specialist hook Jack struck a tiny indication on the float, which resulted in this 4lb Crucian!
