Cambridge-based angler Dave Robinson along with his friend Stephen Harknett both made a 250-mile round trip to Hampshire to fish the River Itchen in hope of landing their first ever grayling.
After spending the morning on the first stretch with only a few chub to show for their efforts, they decided to move further up on the river after a tip-off.
By the time they arrived at the second stretch they only had a few hours of light left to net their first grayling. Little did they know they would go on to catch a fish a chuck until darkness fell.
Both using 13ft float rods coupled with a small Series 7 Float 9-30 reel loaded with 4lb Supplex, a 4BB stick float and a size 18 Super Spade Hook-To-Nylon baited with a single maggot.
