Drennan’s Ian Brooker with yet another big, vividly coloured River Kennet Perch, this one weighing exactly 4lb. Ian has enjoyed an incredible 2012-13 season with a string of specimen Perch, Chub and Barbel!

This lean, mean athlete of a Perch was caught on half a Lobworm trotted into a slack with a Matchpro Float 14ft rod. Ian had bait-dropped a mixture of chopped worm and red maggot into a small near bank slack, and managed to miss the first bite. But next trot through the float buried again in exactly the same place – the big Perch putting up one heck of a scrap!

Ian was using a centrepin reel loaded with 4lb Supplex line and was most relieved to finally get the fish into the landing net.
