Floatfished lobworms just one-rod length from the bank accounted for the capture of this brace of monster perch.
The impressive specimens topped the scales at 4lb 11oz and 3lb 15oz and were banked by experienced specialist Jamie Stanley.
Fishing a southern Stillwater, the Poole-based perch fishing fanatic spotted the big fish feeding in a shallow area of the lake, so he introduced a bed of groundbait laced with dead maggots and fished a simple rig over the top.
“The fish were in the shallow water feeding on tadpoles and I could just see these huge fins in-between the reeds,” said Jamie.
“This is an incredible water and has so much potential as I haven’t had a fish from here that’s been under 3lb.”
