This huge 8lb 2oz chub caught by Paul Allen on the River Avon is the biggest caught this season so far.
This specimen was caught after the river specialist spotted a group of fish during an evening session on the Hampshire Avon.
After laying down a bed of pellets via the use of a bait dropper he sat back and watched the shoal feed over the baited area for 30-minutes.
“I’ve never seen chub feed so confidently. They were flashing over the bait and ripping the bottom up trying to get the pellets from the gravel.”
After missing the first bite, Paul carefully lowered his fishmeal boilie hookbait back into position. Ten minutes later he connected with the next bite and this immense fish was soon laying in the mesh of his net.
