All-round angler Matthew Tann enjoyed some great sport trotting on the Hampshire Avon last weekend despite strong winds of up to 50km/h.
With regular feeding of maggots an hour before starting, Matthew soon had them queuing up under the overhanging trees. Using his favourite float rod, the 15ft Acolyte Ultra, Matthew managed to land 5 chub in quick succession before the winds picked up and float control became impossible.
Matthew used a simple trotting setup comprising of a 6.4g Loafer float to aid line control in the heavy winds and a bulk of shot just above the size 18 Super Spade Hook To Nylon hooklink.
