Well done to ace specimen angler Gary Newman for this recent 20lb 6oz river Pike – as featured in his Anglers Mail “Angling Adventures” article last week.

Gary fished the River Kennet and presented a Sardine Deadbait underneath a Drennan Pike Waggler, fished on 28lb Seven Strand wire.

After applying himself all day to the challenge, and outwitting hoards of Signal Crayfish, the big Pike was landed on an E-Sox Power Pikeflex 12ft 3¼lb rod and put up one of the longest fights from a Pike Gary’s ever experienced! He was particularly relieved therefore to safely land the fish, which set a new river personal best.
