“Battled the jet lag to make the most of good conditions”
After flying back from a 20-day Nile perch trip in Uganda, Buckinghamshire angler Gary Newman battled the jet lag to make the most of good conditions and was rewarded in style when he banked this immense 20lb 2oz barbel.
Arriving home, he quickly made some milk protein boilies and headed for the Thames, arriving in darkness. The river ran high and coloured, but he headed for a swim he knew would be fishable in the conditions.
Casting a boilie and PVA bag of chops to a deep area just off the marginal shelf, he had a steady take and bent into a hefty fish. A powerful battle followed, but eventually he had the huge fish in the net. At 20lb 2oz, it smashes his previous PB of 16lb 11oz from the Kennet.
Well done Gary!!
