2012-13 Drennan Cup holder Gareth Goldson with a real old warrior of a Chub weighing 7lb 4oz, one of three 7lb+ specimens caught in just two mornings!

Gareth underlined his intentions to hold onto the trophy for another term by recording a sensational haul of Chub from the River Great Ouse – which also included fish of 7lb 5oz, 7lb, 6lb 14oz, 6lb 12oz, 6lb 10oz and some other smaller ones, in addition to the lump pictured above; incredible Chub fishing!

After a largely frustrating Winter’s Chub fishing due to the inescapable conditions, Gareth really made amends over the course of two morning sessions. He used a Hardy Supero 12ft Feeder rod to present Dynamite Baits Source Boilies on size 10 Drennan Boilie hooks, with a simple link ledger and 10lb Double Strength hooklinks.

“I knew with near perfect river and weather conditions the fishing was going to kick off big style in the last week of the season and I couldn’t have been more right” Gareth told us.
