Although Freddies usually fishes Lake Windermere, he fancied a change, so headed to a loch in the south of Scotland last month. He certainly made the right decision, after landing this pike of 32lb.

It was his first time on the venue, so he spent a while looking for drop-offs and shoals of bait fish from his boat. After around an hour he found a big shoal in around 20ft of water, so focussed his attention on the area. After making a few casts with a black and white bull dawg, he received a solid hit. Straight away, he thought it was a good fish, with the pike giving a ‘proper battle’ in Freddie’s words, powering off down to the bottom and stripping line from the reel.
Well done Freddie!
