Anthony Flint caught an astonishing 328lb at the weekend during a six-hour competition at Monk Lakes.
The Drennan Bordon team man’s colossal weight was taken from peg 88 on Lake 2 at the popular Kent venue.
“I started off in the edge, 4m left and right, feeding sloppy fishmeal groundbait with a 0.4g Drennan AS4 float, 0.20mm bottom and size 12 Margin Carp hook with red Hydro. The first hour I caught steady, mainly to my left hand margin, with carp up to 12lb on meat and feeding slop and 6mm pellets.
“After that, I caught well ‘dobbing’ with hair-rigged meat at 12 inches deep with a 0.4g Crystal Dibber. I had around 200lb by this time. I then tried the edges again and caught steady for the rest of the match, catching carp between 4lb and 12lb. Despite not fancying my peg in the morning I ended up filling seven keepnets and winning the match!”
