For years Finn Lewis has made the trip from his home in Essex to Somerset’s Chew Valley Lake, but he’d never had much luck at the iconic pike water. But on a recent trip his fortunes changed, when he slipped the net under fish of 33lb 8oz and 29lb.
Finn fished from the bank, using herring deadbaits. Rather than use bait boats or sonars, he prefers to go ‘old school’, and cast 40 yards out. Long traces and small 1oz leads were his choice, to stay a little more discrete. Some time ago, Finn lost his father, who was an avid pike fisherman, and admits that both fish brought a tear to his eye.
Well done Finn!
