Dave Elliott went home £1,000 richer at the weekend after topping the Drennan-backed Packington Winter League. 

The 10-round series was held on Molands, Annie’s, Gearys and Little Gearys lakes at the popular Midlands fishery, so a really diverse range of skills was needed to do well. Birmingham-based Dave was a popular winner and showed his consistency in all types of fishing conditions.

Fishery manager John Burchell commented: “We have had 59 anglers in the league and I would like to thank them all for making it the best Winter League we have had yet. A big thank you to Drennan International for providing great prizes for the top 12. Dave secured the title on the previous round and he finished on 15 points, which with the quality of the field was very impressive. We are now hoping to make the event even bigger and better next year.”
