Drennan’s South East Sales Agent and ace specimen angler Mike Davidson embarked on his first Tench session of the Spring at the weekend and produced a quite astonishing catch. Targeting a mild Southern lake, Mike began a 48 hour session on Friday morning and fishing daylight hours only, had amassed 39 Tench by packing up time, topped by this 7lb 6oz beauty!
Mike really put the effort in to make this catch, moving swims from one end of the lake to another, and even going out on the water to locate fish, look at his rigs in situ and find spots to cast to in amongst the weed. This paid rapid dividends as he found a number of Tench concentrated in one particular area so was able to move onto them, and thus started catching immediately.
All the fish fell to a Drennan Inline Flatbed 35g Method Feeder, with a short hooklength of the new 10lb Gravel Braid, baited with some of the Bloodworm Red artificial maggots – critically balanced with a size 12 Super Specialist Barbel hook. Mike used the 12ft 2lb Distance Tench & Bream rods and has also sent us a nice rig photo which we’ll put up later!
