Congratulations to our South West Sales Manager, David Drake, and his fellow team mates for a well deserved Silver medal when they represented England in the Home International Rivers Fly Fishing Competition, held last week on the River Taff in South Wales. Also a very well done to the host nation Wales for winning Gold.

David has been a competition fly angler for many years. He decided to pursue the English National fly fishing qualifying heats 9 years ago and has been fortunate to make the National Final in at least one of the disciplines each year. This is the final round of the selection process for the following year’s International Teams.

In 2011 David managed to qualify for the 2012 International Reservoir Team competing in Ireland, shown below. Also in 2012 he qualified for the 2013 International Rivers Team.

Once an angler has achieved a Cap in both disciplines they then become eligible to be considered for the European Team.
