Drennan Oxford have cruised through to the Angling Trust Team Champs Final after winning the final round of the Oxford Winter League.
The sixth and final round of the Angling Trust Oxford Winter League saw six teams of eight on the Oxford Canal from Kidlington to Oxford. Mild weather and some colour in the water saw the skimmers and roach feed well in areas.
Mick Denton put in a captain’s innings to take the top individual spot on the day and lead his Drennan Oxford squad to a convincing win. He drew the top end peg at Yarnton Lane, Kidlington, and had mainly skimmer bream on bloodworm over joker at 11 metres.
Dave Johnson was runner up with 12lb 1oz from the St Edwards School section. He fished chopped worm for three decent bream plus skimmers and perch. That also helped to secure the second qualifying spot for his Sensas A4 team, who now also progress to the Final held on the Fenland Drains and Decoy Lakes in February.
Drennan Oxford’s Carl Eland was a worthy winner of the individual aggregate with 32 points out of 36.
