Sean Ashby topped the 46-strong field for the fifth round of the Drennan Silverfish League held at Rycroft Fisheries in the East Midlands.
The Sensas and Team England star showed his class with a 27lb 2oz winning weight from peg 24 on Donno Lake. The former World Champion fished at 13m in 12ft of water with groundbait, casters and chopped worms and also loose fed a 6m caster swim to keep quality roach coming. Three bonus skimmers helped to boost his winning weight, which also helped to elevate him to the top of the league.
Runner-up Steve Winter was also drawn on Donno Lake. After a break from match angling the Fenland ace showed that he’s not lost his touch, catching a level 25lb of skimmers and bream at 13m. Third was Phil Turner from unfancied peg 21 on the Carp Lake with a quality 23lb 12oz mixed bag.
