Julien Watson had an arm-aching battle with this double-figure carp during a recent session.

The Drennan Area Manager was fishing at the popular Rookery Waters Fishery in Cambridgeshire when he hooked into something very substantial.

“I had it on an 0.4g AS2 Rig fished on a running-line setup with my 11ft Acolyte Carp Waggler rod,” he explained. “I got some meat from the on-site Tackle & Bates shop and hooked it down the edge on an 8mm cube. 

“It went 14lb 6oz on the scales and took a good 25 minutes to land. It just wouldn’t give up in the deep, clear water. My arms are still aching, but it was worth it!”
