Drennan star Darren Davies has won the Medway Tackle Silverfish League held at Frant Lakes. Forty anglers fished this competitive series at the Kent venue. Here’s how Darren got on in each of the rounds:
Round 1: I drew Sunken Island Lake and had 12lb of skimmers, mostly at 14.5 metres with dead maggots over fishmeal groundbait. This was enough for a section win and a perfect start to the league!
Round 2: This saw me on Car Park Lake where I managed a nice 27lb 3oz catch of roach and skimmers at five metres on casters to win the section and also come 3rd in the match. I used AS3 pole floats in 0.2g and 0.3g sizes with a 0.08mm Flourocarbon hooklengh to a size 18 Silverfish Match hook.
Round 3: Back on the Sunken Island Lake and I had 6lb 3oz for last in the section. With the best five results over the six rounds counting, this was definitely the result I’d have to drop!
Round 4: Stumps Lake and I made up for the previous round with another section win and 3rd overall. Fishing with sweet groundbait, pinkies and maggots I had a nice busy day catching 250 little roach for 16lb 5oz.
Round 5: Back on the Car Park pool, I managed 12lb of roach for another section win. This is a deep lake, at up to 12ft in places, so I needed G-Tip 3 pole floats up to 1.5g in size.
Round 6: The final round of the series saw me back on Stump Lake where I fished a similar match to Round 4 for an all-roach 16lb 5oz, which was enough to win the section.
