Many thanks to our friends at Loni’s Angling Centre for sending us this report of David Norris, who had a wonderful end to what had been a dismal season with two personal best Barbel from a Throop stretch on the River Stour.

First was a 6lb 8oz Barbel caught with just two weeks until close season and if that wasn’t enough the following weekend in the same swim David landing this stunning 14lb 8oz Barbel. David used a simple running lead rig using flavoured meat as hookbait over hemp and pellet.

David throughly enjoyed landing these Barbel on his Drennan Series 7 1.75lb Avon/Quiver rod, “The rod was bent some way, I was amazed how much power the rod had.”
