Having caught his first grayling six years ago, Chesterfield angler David Pearson has had a passion for the species ever since, which has just culminated in this 3lb 1oz fish.
He landed it from a Scottish river after making a 210-mile journey from home. But his efforts paid off, as, over the Over the two-day trip, David added three others of 2lb 2oz, 2lb 5oz, and 2lb 12oz.
Float tactics were his choice, and he had the largest fish on a worm, trotted below a 4g elder pith float he’d made himself. Interestingly, on the second day of the trip, David was expecting to head home after a heavy downpour left floods in his hotel’s car park. However, he found the river falling and clear, and within an hour his dream of a 3lb grayling had become a reality.
Well done David!
