Yorkshire angler Dave Rushton has had a good Summer on his local Yorkshire rivers catching some lovely Chub & Barbel. Dave had been convinced to change from Maxima mainline to the new Drennan Supplex this year, and has been impressed by its performance, especially with the rocky nature of the rivers – with Dave regularly experiencing abrasion and damage to the line after playing fish.
Fishing both the River’s Nidd and Swale, Dave has recently been using 10lb Supplex mainline to a 6lb bottom, with a free running 2oz lead set up and a lump of hair-rigged garlic flavoured meat on a size 10 hook, landing the fish with the aid of a Korum 11ft Neotiric quiver rod. As well as these handsome Barbel, Dave also recently bagged a personal best 5lb Chub (pictured) at dusk from his swim after switching to waggler and maggot at dusk!
