After two weeks away fishing whilst on paternity leave, Dave Robinson made a late-night dash for the barbel rods and headed to King’s Weir on the River Lea, where he was rewarded with one of the stretch’s giants.
Fishing a 12mm fishmeal boilie on a long fluorocarbon hooklink below a 2oz lead, Dave hooked and landed this fish of 18lb 8oz that he says ‘truly stopped him in his tracks’.
Although he’s caught other memorable fish from the stretch this autumn, including a barbel of 17lb 4oz, he knew this one was on a different scale to the rest. Once in the net, there was no mistaking that this was one of the in-form stretch’s ‘bigguns’, with the fish capping an epic campaign so far for the Suffolk angler.
Well done Dave!
