With temperatures dropping, many anglers are now turning their attention away from the rudd of our Fenland Drains. But during the final warm spell, Dave Owens ventured for one final session after the species and managed this 3lb 1oz fish.
He spent an hour trying to find them, and once he stumbled across some good fish, it was clear they were on edge. Feeding a few bits of bread, he noticed the fish would come in, take a few baits, then disappear for 20 minutes before making a return. After an early fish of 2lb 4oz, he spent the next three hours and feeding before landing the shoals largest member in the shape of the three-pounder. It fell to a piece of freelined bread flake and put up a great fight amongst the pads.
Well done Dave!
