Former Drennan Cup winner, Darryn Stolworthy has banked the biggest reported tench of the season so far with this beast at 12lb 2oz.
The Norfolk specialist angler fished a Cambridgeshire pit that had produced one tench all year, and that fish had fallen to a carp angler. However, knowing the quality of the fish in these, Darryn wasn’t deterred, and landed one smaller fish and lost another before landing the twelve-pounder. It’s the same fish caught by Dai Gribble a few years ago at 14lb 14oz, and had Darryn caught it a few weeks earlier, before it’d spawned, he reckons it would’ve been an even more impressive fish. Maggot feeders cast over a small amount of feed at 50 yards, using a worm kebab on the hook, did the damage.
