As anglers, we often try and save a bit of our annual leave for a fishing trip, and that’s exactly what Darren Hughes did, using a week off wisely and landing a trio of big Hampshire Avon doubles.

He spent time baiting a few swims and kicked things off with a 15lb 6oz fish. The next day, he followed this up with a 14lb 6oz fish, before hitting the jackpot on the last day of his holiday with a 16lb 10oz beast.
All his fish fell to a 15mm paste wrapped dumbbell boilie, fished alongside a PVA bag of broken boilies for feed. With the largest fish, Darrel’s centre pin screamed off as the fish made off with the bait and gave a spirited fight before he had it safely in the net.
Well done Darrel!
