Darren Davies’ bag from Birmingham & Fazeley Canal

Drennan Team England International Darren Davies caught this tremendous bag of fish on the Birmingham & Fazeley Canal recently, whilst practicing for the second round of the Drennan KO cup.

Darren caught the majority of the bream fishing his Drennan Zircon Pole at 11m fished in the 2 o’clock direction (instead of straight out), just going up the far shelf but still in three feet of water. By targeting the bigger fish with casters in the slightly deeper water at this angle Darren was able to keep them feeding for much longer, and put together over twenty pounds of skimmers while not spooking the shoal of feeding fish!

Tackle used on the day consisted of a 4×12 Drennan Roach pole float on 0.10mm Team England Rig line, to a 0.8mm Double Strength 6-inch hooklength and a size 20 Carbon Match hook. Elastic was the no5 Kamasan through 2 pole sections, set “soft”. All the fish were caught on single buried caster cupping in less than half a pint all day!
