Hampshire angler Darrel Hughes with a huge Barbel from the River Avon – which won him a weekly Drennan Cup award in Angling Times recently!

Having landed a 14lb 10oz specimen back in September, Darrel bettered that by over a 1lb with this 15lb 12oz fish – caught over bait-dropped Hemp seed on a 10mm Halibut Pellet.

Darrel presented his bait on a size 10 Super Specialist hook and a long combi rig hooklink tied with ESP Ghost Fluorocarbon and a supple braided end section.
