Darran Goulder’s Latest Big Tench and iRigs Coarse App for iPhones

Tench Ace Darran Goulder's Latest Specimen

2008 Drennan Cup Winner & Shimano consultant Darran Goulder from Kent with a 9lb 8oz Tench – his best of 2012 to date.  Darran saw Tench show & roll several times in an area of the swim he doesn’t normally target, commenting that the 4am start paid off; because by 7am he’d caught and returned this fish.

Darran elected to cast a marker rod just once to the spot in question, which he discovered was a gully in front of a steep bar – walking the Spomb out along the bank behind to exactly the same distance, enabling him to deliver a light Spomb bed of Dynamite Mixed Particle, Swimstim Pellets and Garlic Hemp.  He then fished a Helicopter Rig consisting of a 2 oz Drennan Blockend feeder crammed full of red maggots with a 5 inch 15lb ESP Two Tone Hooklink, a size 12 Specimen Plus Hook and 2 Drennan Artificial casters.

Darran is one of the brains behind iAngler and their excellent iRigs Coarse Fishing Application for the Apple iPhone – which has been part sponsored by Drennan International.   Once downloaded, the iRigs Coarse App is essentially a modern day fishing reference book, available at the touch of a button to order no matter where you are, so is of course particularly useful when you are actually fishing or preparing your tactics, or even buying the right tackle items ready for a trip! This incredibly useful resource recommends the right tactics, rigs and appropriate tackle components suitable for targeting all the popular species from Barbel to Bream, Pike to Perch, Chub to Catfish! A beautifully simple navigation allows you to select from tactics, species or venue location, and there are comprehensive sections dealing with Floats, Feeders, Legers, Knots – plus a whole host of top tips from high profile anglers too.
