After four sessions on the legendary King’s Weir Fishery on the River Lea, Norfolk angler Darran Goldsworthy slipped the net under this 16lb 8oz barbel – his very first of the species.
The tackle shop worker was fishing the weir itself, using a glugged Source pellet and a PVA bag of free offerings when he had the bite just 30 minutes after casting out. From the moment he hooked it, Darran knew he’d connected with his target species, with the fish giving a powerful fight in the turbulent water.
Well done Darran!
