Danny Spring enjoyed an extraordinary specimen Barbel hat-trick recently, and added a big Chub for good measure.

Danny now lives in Berwick-upon-Tweed, Northumberland and made the long journey down to fish the Ouse System, but it paid off with Barbel of 11lb 15oz, 10lb 3oz and 9lb 9oz. He then added a Chub of 6lb 8oz plus some smaller fish!

Danny used trotting tactics with a 2g Fox Chubber float and two white maggots on a size 16 Drennan Wide Gape Specialist hook – using 8lb Super Specialist Mono and 5lb Climax Soft & Strong hooklength.
