Hertfordshire’s Dan Sales was delighted with these two fine Tench after a tough spring, the larger specimen weighing 7lb 12oz. After a tremendous river season, the particularly cold wet Spring weather meant Dan has honestly reported a slump in catches – a situation in reality experienced by the vast majority of specialist anglers.
Dan used the large Drennan Method Feeders with a short 10lb Gravel Braid hooklink to a size 11 Super Specialist Barbel hook, balanced nicely with 5 artificial buoyant maggots on the hair. The recently launched Gravel Braid is perfect for this shop, being both exceptionally limp (important for ‘bending’ back onto the Method Ball), and inconspicuous – so that it blends in nicely where large, potentially rig shy fish are involved.
