The two-time Drennan Cup winner banked the specimen of 11lb exactly from a Kent stillwater having challenged himself to hit the landmark after his 60th birthday in December. “I don’t set targets in my fishing, but really wanted this one,” he told us “At the start of spring, like many anglers, I had a tricky run, landing two tench in 14 nights.I’d been at the Tenchfishers fish-in at Bawburgh Lakes, Norfolk, when we had some awful weather come in, so I shot down to Kent.”
Fishing four maggots on a heli-rig over a bed of 2mm Sonubaits pellets, hemp and chopped worm, Dai had the take on the first morning of the trip.
“It was the only fish I had, but if you only catch one, make it a good one, as they say!”
Well done Dai!
