May is regarded by many as prime time for tench, and two-times Drennan Cup winner Dai Gribble proved exactly why with this 11lb 9oz specimen landed on his very first cast of a recent trip.
Having taken his time getting his kit sorted and a spot baited on a Kent stillwater, the Staffordshire ace cast his trusty worm kebab rig over the top and had his three rods out by 4pm. Three hours later he had a bite on the first rod he cast out and connected with a heavy fish that turned out to be the eleven-pounder. Over the remainder of the session, Dai landed an additional 28 tench, including a fish of 10lb 9oz.
Well done Dai!
