It’s the first double-figure specimen the two-time Drennan Cup winner has landed this season, having caught two tench that came agonisingly close at 9lb 15oz apiece during a previous session.
It came about after the 57-year-old, from Stafford, switched swims twice in six hours after spotting fish rolling in other areas of the lake. Over the duration of his three-night session Dai banked a total of 16 tench, including one other over 9lb.
They all fell to worm hookbaits mounted on a size 10 wide gape hook and short coated braid hooklinks, fished alongside inline swimfeeders containing chopped worms, red maggots and peat. He targeted a gully between two large weedbeds to take the biggest of his haul.
