Well done to Norfolk specimen angler, author and artist Chris Turnbull, who made headlines this week following the capture of this special Roach, which weighed an astonishing 3lb 13oz!
Chris has been fishing an undisclosed venue in the hope of such a fish – and during the afternoon and evening in question he landed a quartet of Roach, weighing 2lb, 2lb 4oz, 2lb and the monster at 3lb 13oz, plus some smaller fish. He used 3 red maggots presented on a Korum Heli Kit, with 3-inch hooklinks constructed from 4lb Drennan Supplex line to a size 14 Guru hook, using a 40 gr Kamasan Blackcap feeder. The catch was made using a Series 7 Specialist Avon Quiver 12ft 1¼lb rod and Shimano 4010 reel loaded with 6lb Specimen Plus line.
“It beats my previous longstanding 3lb 3oz personal best Roach taken from a southern reservoir by 10oz, and pound for pound must count as my biggest fish from a lifelong angling career!” explained a delighted Chris.
