The River Lea has been in fine form this season, with it hitting the headlines almost every week. One angler to take full advantage of this at the end of the season was Ricky Woolfe as he banked himself this stunning 19lb 12oz barbel..
Caught from the prolific stretch at King’s Weir, a venue that quite often throws up a biggun towards the end of the season, it came as a surprise as this fish wasn’t one of the two 19lb’ers that was caught from the venue last season as fishery manager Andy Tredgett explained “We keep detailed records of the barbel, with measurements and extensive photography,” he told us. “I know there are three barbel in the stretch that have the potential to top the 20lb mark!”.
If this wasn’t enough, Ricky also landed a further specimen on 17lb exactly in the same week!
Well done Ricky!
