It wasn’t that long ago that the ‘pike season’ started but anglers have already been reporting some great crocs, none more so than Staffordshire angler Chris Mason’s 35lb 2oz pike.
Targeting the legendary Chew Valley Lake, Chris tempted the fish on a smelt fished from the bank. Whilst conditions were far from ideal, with bright sunshine, fairly warm weather and clear water, Chris wasn’t deterred and was rewarded for his efforts. The fish gave a great fight and seeing the immense pike through the depths for the first time certainly set his pulse racing. It’s a new PB for Chris, beating his previous best by 2lb 2oz.
Well done Chris!
