Review by Drennan’s Stewart Moss
Bob and Stuart have put a colossal amount of time, effort, skill and planning into this brand new angling film – and it really shows – because its brilliant! There are 10 ‘acts’ which are essentially self contained sections covering a different trip by either Bob or Stu (or both), and each one is hugely entertaining and worth its place. At around 2 hours 40 minutes, it would be difficult for many to sit down and watch in one go, but it’s very easy to sit down and watch a couple of acts at a time – all easily accessed from the menu. Refreshingly there is little in the way of ‘product placement’ although those with keen eyes can see exactly what tackle items the lads have chosen to use. There is a very good balance between action, explanation and rigs – with no ‘boring’ over-detailed twenty minute tackle / bait workshops!
The chosen venues have been selected with care and are varied and easy on the eye. Having just been launched in May, the film fittingly begins with 2 contrasting acts devoted to Tench fishing. Stu starts with a float fishing session on a picturesque estate lake type venue – casting a float tight to pads in traditionalist style. This is followed by Bob giving an absolute master-class in modern feederfishing for gravel pit tench – showing exactly how to use the Drennan In-line Bolt Rig Feeders effectively! Later on Bob also visits Bluebell Lakes in Northants, tackling one of the pits with one of our Driftbeater floats having first raked his swim – all great viewing which makes you want to get straight out there Tench fishing yourself…
Both Bob and Stu present the film in a nice laid back, easy going style – and come across as exactly what they are – knowledgeable, accomplished all-round anglers who know both how to catch big fish, but also enjoy doing it! On top of all this, there is some sensational underwater footage which will be of interest to even the most experienced angler. For example, the footage of Barbel shoaled tightly under an overhanging tree and Tench picking up and blowing out hookbaits in a must-see.
Superb acts featuring Stu Summer Barbel fishing on a clear river, Bob trotting for barbel on the Trent, a night session for big Barbel, stalking at a Spring lake for carp, floater fishing for big carp, Rudd fishing on the Fens, and Bream fishing on a park lake all roll by before you know it. This first 2-DVD offering retails at £29.99 – in my opinion it is worth every penny! This is a top quality film that you’ll want to watch again and again, and the trailer for parts 3+4 looks if anything, even better!
But don’t take my word for it, order your copy via Bob’s website and see for yourself!
