Young angler Carl Smith, 17, from Haywards Heath in Sussex, ventured out into the snow at the weekend to a small stream near his home, in search of Chub. 

After walking to the venue, Carl set up an improvised leger rig incorporating a size 14 Super Specialist hook baited with dead red maggots, and after trying a few swims and enduring the extreme cold – managed to catch this handsome Chub! For full details on the Super Specialist hooks, click here.
